Figure 10. Generalized map showing the location of the Tanoso, Abofour, Kasutie, and Horizon West concessions.

Abofour, Kasutie, Horizon West

  • Northeast of and along strike from the 5M oz Bibiani deposit
  • Along Belt-margin shears, parallel structures, and splays
  • Multiple targets including soil anomalies as well as trench and drill hole multi-meter, multi-gram intercepts.

Tanoso

  • Northeast of and along strike from Newmont’s Ahafo deposits

Abzu has four concessions in the Sefwi Belt which are part of the Red Back option agreement portfolio (Figure 10).  Three of which, Abofour, Kasutie, and Horizon West, lie along the southeast margin of the Sefwi Belt and are collectively termed the North Bibiani Project, a name derived for their position along strike from the Bibiani Mine, a past producer that is currently under redevelopment by Noble Resources Ltd.  The fourth, Tanoso lies northeast of Newmont’s Ahafo deposit along the northwest margin of the Sefwi Belt.

These concessions have been explored by Red Back and Newmont under a previous joint venture with Red Back.  Regional stream sediment and BLEG sampling along with analysis of catchment basins, and regolith cover led to local soil surveys and subsequent follow-up with trenching and shallow RAB or Aircore drilling. Local IP surveys have also been completed.  This work led to the discovery of multiple targets including soil anomalies, trench, and drill hole multi-meter, multi-gram intercepts.
